OBJECTIVES<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

To develop a protocol for the conservation of scientific collections, combining the objects\u2019 material preservation with their context data. For example : the objets\u2019 collection of the Observatory of Neuch\u00e2tel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PROGRAM<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

To achieve this objective, the project considers i) the assessment of the conservation state; ii) the development of a technico-historical approach integrating three different aspects (historical, ethnographic and conservative); iii) the production of preventive conservation guidelines considering the transport, packing and handling; and iii) the creation of a documentation tool integrating the material and contextual information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 19th century Observatory of Neuch\u00e2tel is a regional landmark which represents the scientific and industrial evolution of the canton.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As an integrated object of scientific heritage, the Observatory encompasses two buildings, a collection of scientific instruments and an archive.
Since 2003, the building complex is under the protection of the Office du Patrimoine et de l\u2019Arch\u00e9ologie du canton de Neuch\u00e2tel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the contrary, the objects collection from the 19th and 20th centuries did not benefit from the same conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The major risk of its preservation is the context and signification loss.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
