They are currently developing a new machine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This work explored different possibilities to increase the productivity of the machine process, which is a laser ablation on watch dial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first approach was to use an algorithm to define better laser parameters, given that parameters can influence the speed and quality of the process and are hard to tune. The selected algorithm was Bayesian Optimization, that functions particularly well for expensive evaluation, such as the laser marking process. Over multiple iterations, the algorithm reproduces a model of the parameters domain. It resulted in a reducing the original production time, at the cost of some quality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The second approach was to optimize the trajectory of the laser path. If the total length of the path where the laser doesn\u2019t fire is reduced, the total time processing will decrease too without altering the quality of the samples. For this, a TSP solver algorithm has been implemented with a recursive algorithm to finish a cavity through all the piece layers before changing to another cavity. It resulted in a 15% productivity increase for pieces with specific geometries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the end, the explored approaches are promising for the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nevertheless, their current implementations are not usable in an industrial context for now and deserve more optimization.
