Smart Alpine 2.0
This project, carried out in collaboration with Mammut Sports Group AG, focused on the design of a new belay system for multi-pitch climbing: the successor to the Smart Alpine.
The device had to offer assisted braking, intuitive handling, increased compactness and compatibility with single and double ropes. The aim was to design the plastic lever that rotates the system and improve the overall design of the product, while incorporating ergonomic, strength and aesthetic criteria.
Following a user analysis, modelling and prototyping phase, a functional metal prototype was developed. Although slightly over the weight target, the final product met expectations in terms of safety, comfort and performance.
