Engineering

Applied Artificial Intelligence

This accelerated course offered by Swiss Engineering and the Arc  School of Engineering allows you to quickly and effectively discover and put into practice the concepts of artificial intelligence, with a focus on its application in industry.

Program

In a world where technological innovation is evolving at a rapid pace, artificial intelligence (AI) is emerging as an essential tool for optimizing, even transforming industrial processes and increasing the competitiveness of companies.

With this in mind, Swiss Engineering and the Arc School of Engineering are offering this intensive and interactive training course that combines theory and practice for the effective implementation of artificial intelligence in industry.

Content

Content
Introduction to AI and Machine Learning (ML)
Exploration of fundamental concepts: supervised and unsupervised ML, classification and regression
Methods for evaluating an ML model (validation and metrics)
Presentation of a complete machine learning pipeline, including:
• Feature extraction
• Separation of data into training and test sets
• Model evaluation
Algorithm : decision trees and k-means
Content
Presentation of concrete examples of AI applications in industry
Workshop with KNIME software (no coding required): data transformation exercises and application of ML algorithms
Presentation of concrete examples of AI applications in industry
Definition of the mini-project framework (project proposals or option to work with your own data)

The mini-project consists of individual work over a period of four weeks, at a rate of four hours per week, with remote monitoring and supervision by a member of staff from the Arc School of Engineering. Participants will be able to choose topics related to issues facing their companies.

Skills

This training course aims to provide participants with a basic theoretical understanding, as well as practical skills to address the technical challenges of AI in an industrial environment.

By the end of this training course, you will be able to:

  • Understand the fundamental concepts of artificial intelligence

Gain an understanding of the theoretical foundations of AI, including supervised and unsupervised learning. Interpret and assess the quality of a learning model and understand the mechanisms of an ML algorithm.

  • Explore the industrial applications of AI

Discover how AI can be used to solve concrete industrial problems, such as optimizing production processes, predictive maintenance, automated quality control, and improving logistics and supply chains. We use concrete examples from our research projects while ensuring the confidentiality of customer data.

  • Put selected AI concepts into practice

Implement artificial intelligence solutions through a mini-project, allowing participants to apply the concepts they have learned to real-world problems in their professional field.

Target Audience

This training course is primarily aimed at engineers from all fields, with no programming prerequisites. It may also be of interest to project managers or team leaders.
