MAS in Rapid Application Development
The Master of Advanced Studies in Rapid Application Development (MAS-RAD) enables you to gain the skills you need to develop local, web, mobile and rich applications, as well as to manage teams and IT projects.
Program
The MAS-RAD is based on open source software and on modern programming languages and tools, in order to allow rapid software development, notably thanks to the development and project management methodologies put into practice during the program.
Content
The MAS-RAD is composed of four Certificates of Advanced Studies (CAS) that can be taken independently:
-
MAS in Rapid Application Development
Introduction to Software Development and Data Processing
Learn about software development and its tools, as well as data processing and visualization.
-
MAS in Rapid Application Development
Web Application Development
Apply web technologies in your job as an engineer.
-
MAS in Rapid Application Development
Rich Application Development
Deepen your skills in advanced web development, mainly related to the digitalization of your company.
-
MAS in Rapid Application Development
Software Engineering and Agile Methods
Manage your software development projects and make them successful.
This continuing education program ends with a 300-hour Master’s thesis in a company, during which a teacher monitors and advises you.

Skills
At the end of this MAS, you will be able to conceive, plan and implement an IT development project.
By using the agile methods, languages, technologies and concepts seen during the program and by integrating users and data in a digitalization process, you will have the tools to develop classic, web (backend and frontend) and mobile applications.
You will also be able to adapt to new technologies and languages depending on the application domain.
Target Audience
The MAS-RAD is mainly intended for engineers without an IT degree: however, the last two CAS may also be of interest to experienced IT engineers wishing to evolve their software development and project management skills.
You must have a tertiary A diploma: Bachelor’s degree, or an engineering diploma (ETS, HES, EPF) in microtechnology, mechanics, electronics, civil engineering or any other field, or an equivalent university qualification.
Alternatively, tertiary B diplomas (ES, federal master’s degree, federal patent) are also accepted, provided you have the necessary professional experience according to the specific HES-SO guidelines. You will also need to demonstrate that you have acquired the necessary scientific and/or methodological knowledge.
